The Usual Suspects
Sunday, January 11, 2009 at 12:44PM Still recuperating from Christmas-extravaganza, I've noticed that in my hasty attempt to pack up holiday decorations I forgot a few things here and there. A nesting snowman wine holder (from mom when she de-stashed all of her holiday crap. I of course, the Holiday Decoration Junkie that I am snapped it up like a crackhead on welfare-check day), a handtowel with cheery snowman and silver thread snowflake and the caviar beads I weave around the banisters. Thankfully, those don't look too tacky as they match our living room colors. They will be coming down this weekend. I think it's a subconcious reverie to the holiday spirit.
We are noticeably without wintry weather in the valley, unlike last year, which prompted this year's mass pruning of the large fruitless mulberry trees outside. The good: more sun, and the trees will take less water. The bad: Our shade gardens are now full sun gardens. And? The boughs don't cover the delicate ferns and they have now died a frosty death. Oh well, the front gardens needed updating, anyway.
With graduation for me with less than five courses away I can't help by find myself giddily awaiting the weeks when I can have Mondays and weekends back. No more term papers, no more self-righteous, subjective instructors, and no more planning 3-day weekend vacations around school schedules. And, I'll have that little piece of paper that says I know what I'm talkin' 'bout, people - a diploma.
And, can someone tell me why I must be at least 5'7" to use our laundry hamper? I feel like an 18 month-old trying to reach for a favorite toy at the bottom of an oversized toy chest, only I'm reaching for the bottom of the hamper for stinky socks and in danger of toppling over. I have to use my tippy-toes, squeeze my shoulders and entire HEAD into the mouth of the hamper to reach the botom. Apparantely if you're 5' 1 and 3/4 you are exempt or completely banned altogether from doing laundry. Yes, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
Oh, and I don't know what happened to the squarespace format, but it's all wonky and huge despite the modifications I've used. I apologize for the wonkiness.
